Hey everyone. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and today we're taking a look at the charging port. This has two USB ports or outlets for you to charge up any of your accessories that utilize that USB port, which is most accessories these days, things like tablets, mobile phones and GPS trackers, stuff like that. So you'll be able to mount this to your wall in your RV or your boat, anywhere that you need to have that extra port to charge your accessories.It's going to come with just the port and then this little attachment ring to get that installed. So if you're putting this into a backing plate, easiest way I've found to do it, the threads on this little ring are just in two spots, so right where the little tabs are. So if you line those up with the flat spot on there, you can just push that up and then turn it about a quarter turn and then it's going to be tightened down or turn about a quarter turn until it's tight.
And that's pretty much all there is to it for that portion. And then you'll just need to connect your ground and your power to make the electrical connection.So pretty easy install. It works with 12 volt power and each of our ports is going to have 2.1 amps at 5 volts. As far as the size of this fits on the outside, it's about 1-1/2 inches in diameter and then for the threads it's about 1-1/8th inch in diameter, maybe 1-1/16th.I would suggest grabbing one of the ports for these or one of the backing plates. We have a couple of options available here at etrailer.com.
Those part numbers for- there's either a single backing plate or a dual backing plate. The single is 37215155 and the dual is 37215165 so they'll definitely make a great option if you want to have two of these USB ports, so then you'd have a total of four attachments for your USB accessories, or if you want to also have a 12 volt socket right next to it, you can use that dual port for that. Whatever you want to do should be pretty easy to install though. That's pretty much going to do it for our look at the charging port with two USB outlets. Exactly what I needed. All three locations on my Trailer work great again.
For me, all I needed was the usb connections and socket. I removed the threaded socket and installed it into my failed outlet housing in my RV. Fit perfectly..!
I am now more aware of the load on the 5v transformer. Usually only charge one device at a time - as I might have over loaded the circuit… or I had a defective unit to start. Has been working perfectly for a year now.

Exact replacement, except the usb ports are not mounted in the receptacle (orientation) the same. 180 degrees opposite.
Solid item, installs easily in a 1-1/8" hole. The retaining nut slides on then turns to get tight, making it nice to mount since it was difficult to reach the back of the unit. Hard to find USB outlets without a light, so that's nice. No cover is also nice; many others have covers which I would have tossed.
One minor complaint - the ports are not aligned similarly, one is "up" and one is "down". Not a big deal since I typically leave my charging cord plugged in most of the time. It appears it was installed wrong at the factory as the website photo shows them both facing the same way.
Overall, another great product from etrailer.

The USB port is doing exactly as it is supposed to, charge electronic devices. I could have bought the charger at many places but bought it at Etrailer because I know the products are good, short shipping times and I can find the items I am looking for without having to filter all the “you might also need” product I don’t need or want. The customer service has been excellent when I needed them. I fiind myself going to Etrailer first for my shopping for truck and trailer products.

Most orders go great but the reality is, regardless of vender occasionally things go south. etrailer simply does a good job when things go wrong. And following up a year latter shows a customer service department that understands asking for a 5 star rating before UPS leaves the driveway is rather dumb. I had one in the camper but we need more at times. This seemed like a good answer so I installed 2 more. It has worked out great.
My travel trailer came with one of these that was not the greatest quality. This replacement has been great. Very easy to install and no issues.
Exactly what I needed and simple to install.
Delivery time, even during the Christmas holidays was unexpected.

One year later and after spending 60 days in the RV the USB outlet is still performing fine.

Needed a 12V port to charge our phones when we’re not in a RV park. This was exactly what I was looking for and was easy to install.
Exact replacement for OEM installed ones. These are of higher quality and seem to perform much better.

After years of considerable use, the new replaced circuitry has been perfect. I still try to not use both plugs with long and heavy loads, such as 2 totally dead devices. I am happy to find such an easy solution to replace this USB power outlet - especially when it’s in such a convenient location in my rig.
